INTRODUCING A new storytelling podcast series, documenting the epic rise to leadership of a young man from Jamaica who provided four decades of service to the South London neighbourhood of Brixton. He emerged as a leading figure in Britain’s black community and became a pioneer of the Windrush generation.
His name was Courtney Laws.
Out now and available on all podcast platforms.
“There are so many human sufferings and problems within our society that unless there are people conscious and devoted, in the true sense of community spirit, we will be unable to foster and develop the understanding, wellbeing and justice that is necessary for the equality of mankind to exist.”

Why I made a podcast about my dad
My dad Courtney Laws, died in 1996, and it’s been over 25 years since his passing. I have never been able to get past the fact that after working so hard for so long for so many people, his contribution to the black community has become a fading memory, despite representing a critical aspect of the British black experience. He was a pioneer of the Windrush generation and his story needs to be put on the public record and if I don’t do it…who will?
Rest in Power dad! Love Claudette x
